Yunnan-which literally means “South of the Clouds” due to its location just south of the Tibetan Plateau-is renowned for its blue skies and beautiful nature, rich ethnic cultures (more than twenty-five ethnic minority groups related to the Tibetans, Thais, Burmese, Hmong, Mongolians and Han Chinese call Yunnan home) and a very large variety of fresh, delicious and exotic ingredients.
Located in the southwest of China next to Sichuan and Guizhou provinces, and geographically close to Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar, it is a culinary melting pot of blended flavors and aromatic fragrances from all of these places.
We are offering these in-depth one-day or multiple-day culinary excursions in ancient Dali town with a combination of different programs which will bring you a deeper understanding about Yunnan cuisine. You will go home with memories of Yunnan’s mountainous landscapes, the old rural villages surrounded by enormous vegetable fields, and the mouthwatering taste of the colorful Yunnan kitchen. You will also be able to recreate a slice of heavenly Yunnan back in your home kitchen.
